35w 6cm dilated?! Help!!

Brittney

So I’ve been having a ton of issues this pregnancy that all started at 31w. What started as heavy bleeding led my doctors to finding out that I had a short (2cm) cervix and baby was in a weird position where her feet were right at my cervix with a piece of the cord right under. So I was hospitalized for a week and put on immediate bedrest with weekly dr appointments for the rest of my pregnancy. (because of the short cervix, my dr’s goal was just for me to make it to 35 weeks)

Fast forward to this past Tuesday, I went for my weekly dr appointment and had been experiencing excruciating back pain and a ton of pressure in the pelvic area, so they checked my cervix and found that I was 5cm dilated 😳 so they told me to immediately go to the hospital and that I was in labor, baby was coming! I got to the hospital about 1.5 hours later and they found I was up to 6cm dilated and 50% effaced, at around 2:00pm. I started having contractions, but none that were unbearable, I could easily breathe right through them. Around 11pm, all contractions had stopped so they checked my cervix again and found that I was still only 6cm dilated and 75% effaced. I decided to try to get some sleep at that point because nothing was happening, and there was no change in the morning so I was moved to the antepartum wing so they could continue to monitor me in case I went into labor again. Its now Thursday, and so far nothing has happened, so I’m hoping they will let me go home today 🤞🏻

Has anyone else gone through this? Has anyone just sat at 6cm for weeks and made it full term?

**Because I’m only 35+3, I have been told by multiple doctors that while they won’t stop labor if it happens again, they also will not do anything to help speed it up because ultimately we want baby to stay in as long as possible. They said if I reach 38 weeks they will help progress things but not a day before that.
