I don’t think I have ever been THIS tired 😴

Sa

Thursday/Friday we completed our 700 mile road trip to visit my family in Canada, just me, my 9 month old, and my 2 year old. (My husband stayed home as he has to work)

The first day should have been roughly 6.5 hours of driving, which I figured would take us 8 hours with breaks. Well we hit a bunch of traffic and breaks also took longer than anticipated, because even just to stop for a quick pee I have to unload the double stroller and both kids and pack it all back up again. Add in diaper changes and nursing the baby, every one of our stops was a good hour long. Anyways, 11 hours later we finally made it to our hotel at the halfway point. The good news is my toddler is a road trip rockstar and baby did much better than expected. (Some of you may remember our completely failed attempt back in April).

Day 2 was another 8 hours. 6 hours driving and a couple 1 hour breaks. At least we didn’t hit much traffic that day. We made it to my brother’s in time for dinner and I thought I would finally get some rest.... WRONG!

We spent the weekend at my brother’s and Monday moved on to my mom’s house. Well neither house is baby/toddler-proof in any way and I literally have not stopped chasing the two of them around to keep them from breaking something or hurting themselves. (Turns out baby-proofing is the key to keeping my sanity at home). To top it off they’ve both been fighting going to sleep and once they do go to sleep the toddler sleeps fine, but baby wakes up multiple times per night. I think he’s really thrown off being in strange places. He’s also just cut his 5th tooth and I can see number 6 is about to come through also. I know I shouldn’t complain because he usually is such a good sleeper and has been from early on, while plenty of you have been dealing with multiple waking for months, but these restless nights combined with no breaks during the day, have me just completely exhausted.

We have another few days at my mom’s, then a couple days with my dad and then the looong drive back home again...

It has been great seeing everyone, but let me tell you I cannot wait to get home and relax. Plus I miss my husband and our dogs, and I know he misses the kids.

Thanks anyone who actually read all this. I hope you have a fantastic day!
