When is it a good time to start looking for a pediatrician?

6ish months. My obgyn gave me a list of peds she recommended. I chose one from that list that was covered under insurance  (and coincidently the one she uses for her own kids).

I had one before I gave birth. Least where I'm at they want to check the baby and have a follow up a week after.

I would suggest before the baby was born. I had some idea, but not really. I didnt set anything up in advance. Turns out, I had to call from my hospital room after delivery to set up an appointment and find out who was accepting new patients. I lucked out and got the pesiatrician we wanted, but juat barely. And I had to take my little guy in the day after we were discharged. (That's the way our hospital does things here). Save yourself the stress, and pick one early. The last thing you want to do is be calling around the day after delivery, you want to enjoy snuggling that new baby!
