Umbilical Hernia

Brooke
Anyone have experience with this? Mine is pretty bad, not just the normal small bump. I had an appointment with a general surgeon yesterday and he said surgery to fix is too risky to the baby. Pretty much can't do anything to exert pressure and cause it pain. Which is like everything- didn't realize how much you use those muscles! I will be having a c section in March and he said that we could fix the hernia a few weeks after I'm healed up from the c section. Please if anyone has experience, share your stories! He said it was relatively common but I've never heard of such thing. Thanks!

I had an umbilical hernia a year after my  appendectomy... It was the worst pain the only way I could manage was by applying constant pressure on or around my belly button! I kept telling my dr about the pain and he kept telling me it was fine and scar tissue from my appendectomy it wasn't until I had to go to the er because I couldn't walk that they determined it was an umbilical hernia and I need sugary ASAP!!!! I'm not going to lie it was the most painful surgery I have ever had keep in Mind my pain tolerance is a 1 but I would choose a c section every day over hernia repair... U don't realize how much u use your ab muscles it took about a month recovery!! To make u feel better tho my friend had one and she was only out for like a week!! Good luck!!!

I had an appendectomy and csection. I'll be having a csection in December followed by hernia repair and gallbladder removal (both at once) and now I'm super worried about the pain! lol

I have two hernias above my belly button (forget the technical names). They stick out funny and hurt on occasion -- doc said they would fix it when I'm done having kids (or beforehand if it gets too painful). The further along you get in pregnancy, the better it should feel (or at least the less dangerous it will be for strangulation) because baby shifts everything around
