After surgery

So I had the laparoscopic and d&c surgery on Tuesday. My period was suppose to start sometime this week but I'm assuming my surgery obviously through it off. Doctor told us to resume sexual activity in 14 days. Any of you that have through this when was it safe to ttc? Just want to compare. Any success stories?
