Imo, you can never really tell what someone's sexuality is. 
I don't think assuming is that wise.
A lot of guys can't tell, many wouldn't think of it. 
I personally prefer & attract a lot of bi guys, but I never assume a guy is bi.

You can have gay tendercies. Like if I see a girl with shaved head, a tattoo sleeve and walking butch, I assume she’s a lesbian (even if I’m wrong, it’s just an assumption).
