Long distance baby shower?

Nearly all my family and close friends are scattered across the US. I almost dont want a traditional shower because it wouldnt be the same and honestly just a handful of co workers would be there. Like maybe 5 lol. What is everyone doing who doesnt have family/friends around?

I’m from Utah but live in Washington State. My Washington friends are throwing me a shower here, but I sent invites to my Utah friends/family. We did an amazon and target registry so if anyone out of state want to do gifts, amazon makes it pretty easy to shop right to us. 
I wish I could travel to Utah to do a shower at home but I cannot so I totally understand how you’re feeling.

I am military I’ve seen it all. People do online showers, people have casual get togethers with anyone local, or coworkers. One thing i did for people sending gifts from afar is I took a photo of us with each open gift and mailed it back with the thank you card. Was a lot of work but then people got to see my belly and laugh about it and stuff. Best of luck.

I'm pregnant with our third baby now but for our first and second, i had this same issue. I'm from New Orleans and after Katrina my entire family moved to different states bc we as ll lost our homes, jobs, everything. I didn't have a traditional shower bc of this, my family just sent gifts from our registry. My coworkers did throw me a small shower and it was fun, it was about 8 of us.

We live in Florida, expecting our first and our families live in Ohio with friends throughout the country. My sister sent out invites to a brunch with the note that I will be “carrying enough precious cargo back to Florida so please have gifts shipped directly” 
So we were able to see quite a few people at a casual brunch and express our gratitude to them but most people just sent gifts and well wishes from afar!

My husband and I live in Hawaii and our families are in Texas. My mom is actually sending out a invite for a long distance shower. It’s essentially a request for people to help with our registry without saying that. This is the idea we are going with(not my picture)

We are in California but most of our family and friends are spread form New Jersey to Virginia so we just picked a location close to as many as people possible and the rest of our family didn’t mind traveling a few hours, we asked gifts be shipped direct to California.
