When did you get your period back?

When did you get your period back after exclusively breast feeding? Was it extra light or extra heavy?
I’m three months postpartum and from my Fitbit, it looks like my resting heart rate fluctuating based on a monthly cycle like before I got pregnant. I haven’t had a period yet. My doctor said I could use exclusive breast feeding as birth control for 6 months, but I’m still a little nervous.

I know some doctors still recommend this, but my mom got pregnant with my little brother on this method.
She was told she’d need surgery to get pregnant again, but instead got pregnant on accident while she was breastfeeding me 😆
I’d take a pregnancy test to be sure and then talk to your doctor if you’re still nervous! ☺️

I was EBF and did not get my period back until 1 year pp. It was SUPER light the complete opposite from before my pregnancy. After a few months it has not returned more back to normal but still light. I was not on any birth control but have still not gotten pregnant. But I would not rely on exclusively breastfeeding as your form of birth control, especially if you dont want another baby soon.

Mine came back exactly 3 months pp no different than before I was pregnant. I am going on 14 months ebf and have had totally regular periods since 3 months pp.

The first time, it came back pretty much right away at 6 weeks pp. The second time, i didn’t get my period back until 8 months pp. Exclusively breastfeeding both times. Hoping for another 8 months at least this time! 🤞🏾
