Could I get an elective c section my 2nd pregnancy?

I’ll try to keep it short, but I hemorrhaged postpartum with my first baby because my placenta had grown into my uterus. As far as I understand doctors don’t usually just let you pick to have a c section without any issues. My OB will be screening for that same issue with this pregnancy, but honestly even if everything is good, I’m still pretty scarred from that experience. I was in the OR for an hour, got a d&c after nothing would stop the bleeding, and I ended up needing two blood transfusions. If the d&c didn’t work I could’ve ended up with a hysterectomy. It wasn’t fun. I’m sure it depends on the OB, but do you think it’s likely my OB would let me opt for a c section this time around? I’m planning on asking at my appt next month. Just want to hear any experiences etc

Some doctors will do it electively and some won't. The ones that do will most likely cite the reason as "mental health". If thought of a vaginal birth is causing you alot of anxiety or stress then they'll do it for that reason. Especially since you had issues with your first vaginal birth. Some doctors will do an elective C-section just because you ask, even if there's no reason other than "saving your vagina" lol so you just have to ask and see what your doctor says. 
And just to ease your mind about a potential Csection, I've had 3 and loved them all. No stress, quick, take your pain meds and you're good to go 👍 they aren't as terrifying as people make it seem. Of course there are always different circumstances that change it but every woman I know that has had a C-section has no complaints. Going for my 4th in February.

I deffo think you’ve got valid reasons to have a c section as your previous labour sounded traumatising. Discuss this with the doctors. All the best x

a c section is a very serious surgery.... you probably shouldn’t do it unless you NEED it

With a history of postpartum hemorrhage you don’t want to do surgery if you can help it. The average blood loss for a c section is 1000ml of blood. The average for a vaginal is 500ml.

C-section have there risk too Yu can bleed out just like Yu can with a vaginal delivery. I think that Yur on would have mentioned it to Yu if it was a option. C-section and not a easy way out. Yu should never think that having one would be a better alternative. But like always talk to Yur doctor. I had one not by choice and now I have to have another one with my second and any future children.
