For those formula feeding, how old is LO and how much per feeding is your baby eating?

After LO lost 12% body weight by his first dr appt we found out I can’t produce milk beyond colustrum so we started him on formula. Our dr said he should eat 1.5-2 ounces every 2-3 hours. It’s been a few days and it seems like he is now interested in more than 2 ounces per feed. Is that normal? Can his stomach even fit that much a time?

Omg I could have written this! Mine was weighed on day 3 & 4 and has lost 12.5%. Was told to top up each feed with 20ml formula but after giving her the bottle she wouldn’t go back on to the breast. I pumped for a while but it was just too time consuming and I still wasn’t producing enough milk for her. Eventually made the hard decision just to put her on formula but she has been so happy ever since. She put all her weight back on in a week and is now content and sleeping. She’s now 20 days old and takes 2-4oz per feed every 2-3 hours

Had the same issues and started supplementing after 5 hellish days and a 12% weight loss. Saw a lactation consultant twice a week and tried all the tricks she could think of and my supply was still pretty much non-existent. Officially only giving formula now at 4 weeks old and little one is taking around 3oz at every feeding and eating at least 7x a day.

Let baby be the guide to how much and how often as long as they are taking the minimum amount required. My big guy (9lb 9oz) is 10 days old and taking 90ml every 3ish hours.

The same exact thing happened with our LO. She was born 6lbs11oz and at her first appt she was down to 6lbs. We started upping her formula bottles to 4 oz. Sometimes and if she drinks it all, great. The dr said her tummy can totally handle that much now. 5 days later shes at 6lbs 6oz and I'm so relieved. If shes still hungry after the 2 oz you can. totally give her more. Even if her tummy looks full and round, her dr said its.totally fine to keep feeding her. Good luck
