Did your membrane sweep help start your labour?

I didn’t have a membrane sweep with my first because I was scared it would hurt, but I ended up having to be induced and I’m wanting to avoid that this time so I’m thinking of trying out the membrane sweep this time around. Did anyone else have it? How long after did you go into labour? Was it very uncomfortable or just mild?

I had one with my first at just past 41 weeks. Contractions started about 12 hrs later. I personally wouldn’t have one till my due date or later. They tend to work better when your body is ready. Some women get several of them and they don’t work. And your cervix has to be favorable for one. It is uncomfortable/hurts a little bit I also gave birth without meds so it was nothing compared to that.

Yea I got it done at exactly 39 weeks and went into labor the next day

Yes, my doctor did one at 38 weeks then at 39 weeks, baby was born at 39+1, one day after that second membrane sweep

No I had 6 the last even broke my waters and I still had to be induced

Yes had one with my daughter and it worked and recently with my son and went into labor the next day had him the following day
