Work excuse for egg retrieval?

I have a new boss at work and don’t feel comfortable yet to tell them I’ve been doing IVF.  I haven’t had to take off work for the early morning appts, but I got two days notice I have to take off for egg retrieval. I told my boss I have to have a medical procedure done, but I want to have an excuse for if he asks what happened so suddenly. Any suggestions on what I could say I had to do? Thanks!

There is no reason he should ask and if he does there is no reason you have to answer.   Medical procedure is all they need to know.

I’ve mostly been saying it’s procedures related to my endometriosis, because my boss already knew I had that. She actually did ask WHAT procedure one time 🤦🏼‍♀️ I told her I’m not really comfortable sharing details because it’s a bit TMI. That shut her up 🤣 I have had 3 retrievals and a laparoscopy and a biopsy that all put me under anaesthesia, so I’ve had to get creative. Especially because all my medical certificates are from same hospital with a doctor who is listed as a gynaecologist and fertility specialist (my boss is very smart and will def notice such things). I’ve also had to either sneak away for a few hours or make up excuses for transfer days too. It’s getting tougher, I’m sure she’s suspicious 😬
