Is anyone’s Dad not able to get off work ?

My husband works at a car dealership. He used to work at Lexus and started here at Toyota in February. They are saying because he hasn’t worked there for a year he isn’t able to get off.
One of his customers was saying the Obgyn can write him a doctors note for him to stay home.. has anyone done this or know how to go about this

I'm having a similar issue but with my job. Oh they will give me the time off, but since I haven't been there a year yet I am not covered by FMLA and my job is not guaranteed to be held for me for when I come back. That could be what they are telling him essentially.

Ugh unfortunately my husband used to work at a car dealership and I swear half the shit they do there is illegal (overtime, horrible pay plans, no vacation, etc). I’m not too sure what to do in your situation but hoping it all works out!! 😣🤞🏻

My husband is getting up to a week off but it won’t be paid. He’s only been at his job for a month so they said he can take the time, but he won’t get any pay

Most employers withhold leave benefits until they have been working there for a year. Sure the doctor can write a note but those days will basically be unpaid leave. And the employer still has to approve whether he can be gone for that long or not. Me and my husband were stuck in the same predicament. He was trying to get hired with another company, and we knew if that were to happen we wouldn’t have paternity leave. He decided to stay where he’s at now to use the benefits he has now.

My SO was given 10 days of paternity leave. He's going to take half of it, and use the other half at a later time if we need it.

This is pretty normal. Men don’t qualify for leave because it’s not medically necessary. And in order to have any paid time off would probably have to be considered vacation which he may not qualify for until a year of working there

He should be allowed to have time offf. If not has he got any holidays he can take? Also he’s allowed to take time off for family have a look into it
