Why would I be miserable?

Maybe it's just me, but I find it highly irritating when people say, "Are you just miserable now?" 
I'm 38 weeks 1 day. They've been saying it for weeks now. Both people I know and people I've just met. 
I'm fully aware I will likely have another three weeks to go.
I guess since I've wanted this baby for so long I'm fine with the small inconveniences pregnancy brings. 
Maybe my perspective is skewed, but I've definitely been through MUCH more miserable experiences in my life.
What do you folks think?
What's there to be MISERABLE about?

Because alot of pregnant women ARE miserable when they get that far.. it's not that big of a deal 🤷🏾‍♀️

People would ask me if I was ready to be done or if i was miserable ..... I wasn’t offended.... I was ready to be done. I had heartburn so bad that I slept sitting up for 30 weeks, I couldn’t even drink water without feeling like I was going to throw up fire. My feet hurt, my back hurt , I was uncomfortable whether I was sitting on the couch or at my desk at work. 
I feel like people say these things to make small talk or because they’ve been there.  Why do women get so offended by little things that don’t actually matter.

You’re overthinking it. Late pregnancy can be very uncomfortable and painful so that’s their way of trying to connect to you.

There have been a lot of posts along these lines lately-- women getting really irritated/upset/irate over comments that ARE WELL-INTENTIONED! Some women really *are* miserable at the end of pregnancy-- can barely move due to severe sciatic or pelvic pain, etc. No matter how much you love your child, severe & continuous pain can make you miserable. Nobody is insulting you! People are trying to connect, & maybe that was their experience or the experience of someone they know. It should make you grateful that you're doing fine, not irritated. Relax. :)

I had people say to me "I bet you're just miserable" often in my last few weeks. Yes, my body hurts. yes, it was hard to move around. yes, I couldn't sleep. Yes, I had constant heartburn. Yes, I was so anxious for labor to start and was waiting for it every second. NO, I was NOT miserable at all. If anything I was trying to hold on to every bit of being pregnant for just a tiny bit longer no matter how hard it is at the end. I wanted my baby so much and wanted to experience every bit of pregnancy so I definitely wasn't miserable. I agree, what is there to be miserable about?

With my first, at 38 weeks I was mostly fine. No crazy side effects or anything going on. With my second, by 38 weeks I was in so much pain I was crying daily. I couldn’t eat, couldn’t sleep, couldn’t walk, couldn’t stand up or sit down. It was MISERABLE. Im always thankful to be pregnant. I love the miracles happening inside of me. But it’s okay to realize that pregnancy can fucking suck sometimes, too.

Bad edema 
Heartburn 
I mean, just because people say they’re miserable doesn’t mean it tops anything they’ve been through ever.

That's how I'm feeling. Sure I can't have spicy food and I haven't slept through the night in months. Sure I waddle and cringe when I see the number on the scale. But I'm healthy and so is my baby. What's wrong with them staying in there as long as they need to?

Seems to me a lot of people could learn how to ask open ended questions.
How are you feeling?
What are you experiencing?
When do you think baby will come?
You'll get a lot better response than a yes or no question that insinuates I don't like pregnancy and find out quickly I'm JUST FINE.

I'm with you. The one I get all the time that pisses me off is, "I bet you're ready for him to be born already!" No, I'm actually fucking fine, thank you very much! The heartburn sucks but I get that normally and I'm excited for my hands to stop burning (pregnancy induced carpal tunnel sucks) but I'm actually enjoying being pregnant. It took a lot of effort to get here.
