Ladies help?

I have been on metformin for 2 years ... i just found out im pregnant should i keep taking it ? I cant call the doctors office because its the weekend . What should i do ?

Don’t stop your metformin!! They will tell you to wean off it most likely the start of your second trimester. I am on metformin as well and the doctor at ER & my OB both told me you don’t stop taking metformin when you find out you are pregnant. I am now in my second trimester and my OB decided to keep me on it so I don’t develop gasterestional diabetes. If you want reassurance call as soon as tomorrow morning and ask them or you can ask your pharmacist today.

Call the pharmacy you have it filled at and talk to the pharmacist. That’s their job to be able to answer questions like that! They can be so so helpful.

I would talk to your doctor, but don’t freak out too much until you do. This is my second pregnancy and I’ve been on metformin during both. The only time I was instructed to stop taking it was a week before the glucose tolerance test, starting it again right after. No worries, just ask your doctor (:
