Crib bumper or mesh liner/bumper?

I'm looking at both for my sons crib, which one is the better choice?

Neither are recommended by the APA, so are you absolutely set on using bumpers? In my opinion it doesn't make sense to spend money on something that has been proven to be a hazard. My son never had them and never had an issue sticking limbs out of his crib. You could always add them later if the child develops a habit of getting stuck, but they should be removed again when the baby can stand anyway so they aren't used to climb on. It's such a small window when they MAY be helpful that it wasn't worth the risk or expense to me.

I plan on getting the breathable mesh liner...the others are not widely recommended due to suffocation risk.
