Cluster feeding all night?!
HELP!
I am 6 days PP and my milk came in around day 4, I am trying very hard to EBF but as the days go on its getting tougher.
Last night my daughter would not come off my boob for 5 hours, I was told this was normal, she slept for 45 minutes and then wanted back on immediately for another 3 hours. I didn't sleep. Every time I took her off she would start looking for the boob again, and not like after 20 odd minutes I mean the moment she would detach her eyes would fly open her mouth would drop and move left and right, and she'd be running her tongue everywhere trying to re latch.
Eventually my partner had to give her a bottle because my breasts were so soft, even me squeezing them I had nothing coming out or even a few drops if I was lucky.
I keep reading that this behaviour should be happening late evening, but this happens from late evening until about 5/6am where she settles (only on my partner because she smells my milk and won't relax). So now I'm wondering if this is normal behaviour or if she's comfort nursing and just wants the nipple.
I've tried a pacifier, she will take it for seconds until she realises it's not boob, and she won't sleep in her crib but she will sleep in your arms (wakes up when put down - shows signs of wanting a feed immediately).
I'm at my wit's end. After all that last night she took 2 1/2oz from her bottle! Did all that cluster feeding just come to nothing then?! For her to have nearly finished her bottle???
