Where's a nice place to live?

My husband and I currently live in NC, but we're wanting to move before our daughter starts school. She's only 3 1/2 months so we have some time, but would like to start looking at areas to get an idea. 
We're thinking about moving states, but not sure where. We both miss winter with real snow (I'm from NY and he's from Indiana originally) but don't want a highly populated area.
Any suggestions??

I would for sure go to the pacific north west. Washington, Idaho , Montana or Wyoming. I've been to all and they are amazing. Montana and northern Idaho are hands down amazing!! Not sure if you want smaller town or big but a place I've visited a few times is coeur d'alene Idaho! It's smallish but is so cute. It's super close to Spokane Washington so lots close by.

There's a huge lake people boat in and all. It's at a park that's huge and amazing. What you see in movies lol lots of people there biking, walking dogs ect. There's a picnic area where people have parties and I believe there's a tennis court as well.

I'm from Colorado currently living in NC too, I miss the snow and real winters from time to time too! But dont move there, way too crowded now

I would start looking for areas in which you can afford to live with current income. Once you have narrowed it down to a few take little trips to visit them and get the vibe. Then start looking for jobs and interviewing, followed by looking for schools for your daughter. 
We are also in NC and hope to move next year! Lol however we are both from Florida so looking to head south lol

Washington state!!! Honestly anywhere here in WA. It's so beautiful here and you get regular seasons and once in a blue moon, all seasons in one day!
