Toddler and cats?
I was just curious how many of you mommies our there have toddlers/babies but also have a family cat? I have had my cat since she was a kitten so it's been about 10 years. She's been an indoor cat her entire life. I had her during my pregnancy and I am currently pregnant again. My OB wasnt too worried about it seeing as how shes indoors. She said only cats that eat rodents would carry toxoplasmosis. Also that more than likely I have already been exposed to it as a child because I grew up around outdoor cats my entire life and always played with them as a kid.
This hasn't bothered me a single bit until I saw a post on another mom/baby site saying her toddler just got diagnosed with toxoplasmosis... also she has 2 cats. She seemed extremely concerned but that's all she posted.
I am already a hypochondriac as it is and I know that once u get toxoplasmosis ur stuck with it and so many people have it but have no issues or symptoms. I also know that cats are not the only way to get it in your system but as well as certain foods. It really just causes concern with people who have weakened immune systems.
We have a small house and my cat's liter box is robotic and cleans itself everytime my cat uses it. Plus its inside a hidden cat bench as well. My husband also cleans it every single day. I am extremely anal when it comes to cat liter.
I guess it hasn't bothered me the 2 years my daughter has been on this earth but reading that post hit home for me... can someone put my mind at ease? Idk why I am so afraid of her getting it now! I am nuts...
