Best medicine for my 4 year old??

My poor daughter is 4 and she has a very stubborn cough. She has been waking up multiple times a night from coughing. Is there any cough and cold that really works for that age? Zarbees and Hylands did nothing. We have been putting Vicks rub on her feet and chest, elevating her head and having her breath in steam before bed. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried Benedryl?

If it's persistent, eg it's been longer than a couple of weeks, it sounds allergy related. I would try a children's allergy medicine. Also, change the a/c filters, keep stuffed animals away from the bed,  vacuum 2x a week etc. If there's colored congestion then it could be a bacterial infection (eg sinus infection) and she may need antibiotics.

My son has a terrible cough last winter that would not let up and Zarbees and Hylands did nothing. Oddly enough, what helped was him sucking on a sucker before bed. Terrible, I know! But he found some relief and slept soundly. (Obviously he didn’t sleep with the sucker in his mouth, but had one just before he fell asleep.)
