Baby shower (for women only?)

Question

Is baby shower for women only? I'm lost.
Having this argument with my husband who says its just for women and he wont be coming to it.
He didnt come to my first as well and it caused a huge issue between us 4 yrs ago. (Guys and girls turned up to that as well)
I've not just planned it as a baby shower, I've included all peoples games so that everyone can have fun. 
Is it just for women? Am I overreacting?

Tell him baby shower are also for the first born only technically so if he wants to break that rule to get free items, he can show up and celebrate him child.

I’ve been to three and they were all male/female and the dad was always there. It’s probably one of those things that happened when women stopped being the only one to raise their babies!

I’m doing my shower coed because I want to 🤷🏼‍♀️ that’s pretty much the only thing during my pregnancy I’m making him not have a say. He has a son and that pregnancy/birth/relationship wasn’t good for anyone. I want my entire family involved and his entire family involved. I want pictures of everyone celebrating our little boy.

We do a baby shower for women upstairs and the husbands do a pints and pampers party at the same time in the man cave in the basement. They shoot pool and drink while the women drink punch, snack, and talk. The men bring a pack of diapers for free beer... and the women usually bring a baby outfit everyone can awwwe over. But, I’ve been to both only women and both men and women baby showers. I am from the south though.

My husband wants to be there because he wants to be a part of everything. And we have a lot of guy family and friends that are really excited and want to celebrate too. So we are inviting everyone. Personally, I don’t think it should be just women.

I assume a baby shower is women only unless it says couples shower or is addressed to both of us. We are doing two showers one is in my hometown with women only and one is a couples shower in my husband’s home town.

It’s common to have co-ed showers, but if unless I was specifically told co ed I would assume it’s girls only. It’s totally up to you guys what you want. 
My husband hung out with some friends and family in the shop while we did a girls party inside. We had family in from out of town for it so it made sense for him to be around to hang out with the guys.

Yeah they *used* to be women only (just like birth itself used to be) but these days they’re mostly co-Ed. When I had mine 4 years ago, I invited all my of my husband’s and my friends and family and their partners. My husband, grandpa,uncle and one of my friend’s boyfriend were all there. My husband wanted to be there because it’s his baby too. If you already had a co-ed baby shower in the past and your husband is still insisting on not going then maybe he has another reason for not going that’s he’s not telling you?

Nope.. We're having everyone come .. The boys are gonna cook out on the grill and all.. No reason at all for them not to come💜
