Zofran! What are your thoughts?

Question

Doctor just prescribed it to me for the severe nausea/vomiting.  Doing some research they say there's an increase in birth defects if you take this.  
Anyone taken it and baby was ok?
Anyone taken it and baby wasn't?
What are your thoughts?  I 100% need relief from the vomiting.  I haven't kept anything down in days.

My manager had hyperemesis and was given zofran regularly. She regrets ever taking it, at least as often as she took it, because her little one had some issues. She had fluid built up in her kidneys when she was born, and it caused some issues with one of her eyes. The doctors later suspected it could have been because of the zofran, because it was around the time where more research was done on the medication and the information released wasn’t so good. It’s still mixed information and doctors still prescribe it, but it isn’t worth it to me to take a chance. There are other options out there for anti nausea meds. Ultimately though, it depends on what you’re comfortable with.

I have always had to take it, and I'm 14w with baby #4 and am currently taking it. None of my 1st three kids have anything wrong with them so I wouldn't worry. Sidenote: it really contributes to me being constipated... Might I recommend a stool softener when you take it

I took it my last 2 pregnancies and it was a lifesaver. I had morning sickness straight up until i gave birth. It stopped the vomiting completely and eased the nausea enough for me to eat and keep food down. I still had nausea and lack of appetite, so i never gained any weight,  but it was a whole lot better than being sick every time I ate or drank and it kept me from having to be hospitalized for dehydration. Both my boys turned out perfectly healthy.

I had to take it throughout my whole pregnancy due to HG, unfortunately. 
My daughter had excess fluid in her kidney at her anatomy scan, but it resolved itself by the follow-up ultrasound. 
She was born August 29th and she has no birth defects and no kidney issues. 
My best friend took it through three back-to-back pregnancies and all of her girls are healthy with no birth defects.

I'm taking it, I had no choice though. It was that or constantly staying in the hospital for fluids and them having to force me to eat. But so far the baby is doing very very well! I was told when you are further along it is much much safer.
