IUDs ????!

Question

Hey ladies, looking into getting an IUD for the first time. Wondering if anyone here has one, which one you went with (copper, or hormone releasing) and thoughts on it. When looking into birth control, I know I’ll never remember to take a pill, I’ve heard horror stories about the implant and the pull out method seems too risky when you already have 2 kiddos under 2. Thanks for sharing!

Mirena IUD is the greatest birth control ever. The pill made me overly emotional. Mirena didn’t mess with my emotions as it is a very small localized dose of hormones. Also it makes your period very short and light which is always a perk. Ive heard Paraguard makes periods and cramping stronger. Also you’re fertile as soon as you decide to take it out unlike the pill which sometimes causes a delay as your body needs to get regular. I just had a baby girl and will be getting another Mirena until I’m ready for baby #2.

I had Paraguard (copper) for 6 years. I never had any issues with it. My first period was super heavy but went back to normal after that. Once removed I conceived a month later. I will be getting it again soon.

I had the Mirena twice. Five years then two years. And when I go back for my 6 week check up I’m getting it again. I loved it.

I head paraguard after my first child (put in at 7weeks pp) hardly felt it when it went in. My period was a bit longer/heavier than before but nothing unmanageable. Zero issues with it. Had it taken out mid-November and I was pregnant positive by Christmas! I’ll probably get it again this time, but also sending the hubby for the snip snip at some point this fall/winter :)))

I'm on the same boat with you. Having two babies age 2 and 7 weeks old. My IUD appointment is tomorrow and it's my first IUD. I'm going with Mirena because don't want a heavier period with copper. I'm nervous about the insertion cuz I feel like the tear from labor still hurt. Hopefully everything will be okay we shall see!

I had the paraguard prior to this baby. After 4 years my body partially ejected  it (not sure why) so I had it taken out early last November. Otherwise I had no issues with it, but I think I am going to get the Skyla this time. My periods are light, but paraguard did make them a bit longer and heavier and I don’t feel like seeking with periods this time around.

I got my copper paragard on Monday. So far so good. Some light bleeding and mild cramps. I haven't cramped today.
