Is it smart to invest in an electric car?

I’m thinking of buying a new car because my current keeps breaking down. My brother told me that electric cars are good investments because I never have to get gas anymore. If you have one, what are your thoughts on this?

The world will stop burning fossil fuels all together in this century, and hopefully in the next 30 years.

The batteries in electric/hybrid cars don’t last forever and are very expensive if they need to be replaced. There are pros and cons to both. Plus electric cars tend to be more expensive. In the long run, it probably just equals out.

It depends. Do you live in an area with stable electricity? Do you do a lot of city driving or open road driving? Do you drove long distances and if so, are there charging stations along the way or places you can charge your car on the portable charger? How much do they sell for vs how much a normal car sells for?

I honestly would never get one. Just because you dont need gas doesnt mean it's better, there are other expenses like the cost of charging it and any repairs are more expensive than petrol cars. They also have a limited mileage before needing to be charged. In my city there are only a few charging stations and they arent really widespread over the country to make it a viable choice
