Should you split financial life 50/50 with your spouse?

I made a comment on a thread days ago that got a ton of varying responses and I’ve come to realize people love to debate it.

Do you believe that in a marriage you should split expenses 50/50?

Do you think that a man should want to provide for his wife and children by voluntarily always stepping up. Or do you think a wife should also want to make sure she can equally provide the same financial help to her husband.

I know this is wishy washy. I know that there are same sex scenarios this is not providing insight to.

So just share your thoughts on your relationship. Basically, do you expect your husband to provide?
