Consuming your placenta after birth

What do you guys think about eating or consuming your placenta in some way after you give birth? If you did eat your placenta, what was your reasoning? Comment why you are for or against it.

The reason why I ask is because my SIL is a very granola person and she ate hers and is pressuring me to do the same. I just feel like it is so gross.. Like almost a biohazard lmao. I don't know. It's just not for me but I'm interested to hear in others' experiences.
