Should I become a doula?

I'm a highly empathetic and determined person. I've been doing research and think this could be a great move for me.
Should I do it? Are there things I should consider that I might not have? Please comment any advice.

Do what you want. Midwives and doulas are great professions.

What I didn't consider was that you may be there when a baby dies. That you may see a doctor drop a baby and lie about it. That your job may turn into holding someones hand while their in the hospital miscarrying or getting a d&c. Or that you may be supporting a stillbirth. 
Also recovery. That you can actually get traumatised or even PTSD from a really brutal delivery. I still have things I have to deal with in my mind is that I was at a birth where things went totally awry.
Don't get me wrong, I love my job! It's just something I didn't consider at all. I saw it as a happy ending job where you see baby's come into the world and its all happy. Sometimes there is no happiness in a birth room. Sometimes you have to see someone very distraught and not wanting to hear anything positive. 
Also sometimes you can actually be in the awkward position of not being as needed as was planned previously. Sometimes you get a client that just wants to lie there making out with her SO but wants you in the room. I had one where they were kissing for a solid 3 hours and she didn't want me to give them privacy 😜 So just be prepared for anything.

I'm considering this too. I would rather be a midwife but since I'm homeschooling  my daughter and trying for baby #2 I don't have time for the schooling. I think I will become a doula and lactation consultant, maybe add herbalist certification also

Also you wouldn't have to work for a doctor you can work for a birthing center or even run your own

This is going to sound harsh but, I feel like I know so many women who are becoming Doulas it's like the new Avon lady or "amateur photog" business. So there may be more competition / it may be harder to actually establish yourself in it as a career than you think.
