How do you teach kids of the future about how dangerous social media can be?

I'm only 20, but I'm already thinking into the future about how I'm going to educate my kids about social media. I remember being young and REALLY naive about it, I made a lot of mistakes and really just didn't realize the consequences of posting the wrong things. You can find out just about anything from a Facebook profile that's public. Chat sites like omegle are popular but DANGEROUS because users can save videos of you  and blackmail you with them. If you post something on social media without thinking, your professional AND private life can be totally ruined. Not to mention cyber bullying.  How do you monitor them without them feeling like you've invaded their privacy? We can't keep future kids away from it, so how do we get them to REALIZE just how much it can effect their lives?
