Is a rocking chair really needed?

I wouldn't say it's necessary, but I sure do love my glider. We splurged on one that I felt was comfortable for me and so far it's gotten a lot of use. I remember nursing for hours at night and then just holding baby upright because of reflux. Not sure if the motion helped my girls but I liked it. I also was perfectly content nursing on the couch in front of the TV although I preferred not to do that in the night.

I never had one due to lack of space, but a nice recliner would have been nice for all those breastfeeding sessions. But you can definitely survive without one.

I have a comfy reclining glider that I nurse in. I think just having somewhere comfortable to sit is most important. I never really used the gliding part with my son, he wasn't a fan of that or swings really, but we reclined in it and I still use it for nursing 2.5 years later as my son is still slowly self weaning. Now he likes to rock himself in it, heh.
We'll see if this upcoming baby likes gliding, but the chair in general has been worth it for us.

Depends if you have somewhere comfortable to sit with your newborn. I didn’t with my first and I wish I would have had a rocking chair or glider. So this time I bought one. There’s just something about being able to rock your baby when they’re having a hard time and you’re both exhausted.

I have slept many nights sitting straight up in a rocking chair with my second! She had horrible acid reflux and would scream the entire night, projectile vomit, then choke on it. So I literally had to keep her straight up for hours. I'm definitely going to be using mine!

I find my recliner gets more use than my rocking chair did when I had my first 2 kids, this one will probably be the same.

My first I had a glider and wanted to like it but found it soooo uncomfortable. She became reliant on movement and made sleep so much harder for me. This time around I’m not going to bother.
