How long of a hold to do?

I’ve heard some women do a 3-4 hour hold. But i ended up looking this up once when I didn’t have a pregnancy test and wanted to use morning urine.. you can pee in a cup and keep it on the back of your toilet or whatever until you go get your test. As long as it’s the same day. What I read says urine doesn’t start to deteriorate until after 24 hours.
