After 40 weeks and 5 days of pregnancy, so sure I was going to deliver naturally with no interventions, I gave birth to my precious daughter. I went into labor on my own at 3:30 am 10/12/15 but by the time they broke my water, my contractions fizzled out. But they returned full force and I felt like I was being ripped in half. My husband compared it to a scene from The Exorcist. I made it to 7 cm before I got the epidural, which I'm so proud of because it was so very hard. Within the hour, I was at 10 cm and ready to push. I pushed for an hour before my doctor came in and at that point, my daughter had passed meconium in utero and was stuck behind my pubic bone. Her heart-rate was dropping. Good thing I got the epidural because they had to vacuum her out- I tore and had an episiotomy and many stitches. My husband says my bottom turned inside out - explains the kumquat sized hemorrhoid I have. Out she came after an hour and a half of pushing! She was in shock so we couldn't delay cord clamping but my husband was able to cut it. I was terrified because she didn't cry but as soon as they started suctioning her airways, she cried out. I had to wait to hold her because of the shock and my needing stitches but as soon as she was placed on my chest, she latched perfectly. She's been the best baby ever and in so in love.
