Can sitting all day while pregnant cause swollen ankles?! I’m scared

I do a desk job & I’m 9 weeks pregnant. Today was pretty busy so I didn’t get to walk a lot or enough rather. 
Now my ankles are swollen. 😔
Is that normal or should I head to ER? 
I’m so paranoid because I haven’t seen baby yet- not until 10/1. 
Any experience with swelling & when in danger symptoms welcome!

Swelling can be normal pregnant or not, especially while not active. 
Don’t go to the ER simply because you haven’t seen your baby yet. 
Try checking your blood pressure first, elevate, and cut sodium back. Make sure you’re stretching and keeping range of motion going.

When I was pregnant with my son my ankles started swelling up at night at the very end of the pregnancy, my doctor told me it was normal/fine..as long as the swelling went back down overnight each time. I think it’s when they stay swollen and you can’t get them to go back down it can be a problem.

Yeah but I’m sure your job will let you walk around a bit or to prop your feet up to help the swelling. My job is all about standing and by the time I go home my feet and ankles are so swollen I stay on the couch with my feet up and covered in a cold towel

Since you're sitting for most of your day and your ankles are already starting to swell I suggest getting some compression stockings now and wearing them when you're at work.

My feet were swollen when I worked my desk job all day. I’m not sure about ankles. Swollen Ankles can be a sign of high blood pressure. I’d check with your doctor.
