Spayed or Neutered ? 🐾

So, I have 2 fur babies, a girl and a boy . They are my world 🐾💜💙. They are 6 months old now. They are twins from the same litter and at first we thought they wouldn’t mate but our vet said they would if they aren’t fixed. Now, the problem here is we don’t want them both to have to go through surgery when one can and it could be no pregnancies. Which one would be less invasive or less of a recovery ? Which would hurt less ? They wouldn’t have the opportunity to mate with another dog so that’s why we’re choosing one to go through getting fixed. I just love my babies so much I don’t know what to do 🥺🌍❤️

Both is best
The female: stops her from bleeding everywhere / getting caught by un-neutred males while shes out for walks
The male: if done within the right time frame it prevents then from humping/peeing and marking and escaping to go look for females in heat
If you only want to do 1, always the males - less invasive easier healing time

If you can do both, definitely do both. They can live up to 6 years longer if they’re fixed. It helps prevent so many health issues. Females get periods so you don’t want to take a risk of another dog getting ahold of her while she’s in heat. Plus no one wants to deal with their own period, let alone the dog’s period lol. Also, as for males sometimes if you don’t get them fixed when they’re young, they can become leg lifters in the house, which is a hard habit to break. They will both recover just fine!

You really should do both regardless. It's not just for reproduction purposes, spaying and neutering have other health benefits too.
All our girls are spayed and our male is neutered, same with our cats.

My first thought is to get the female fixed. That way she doesn't get in the heat twice a year and she can't mate with other male dogs either if she gets away from you. But it's the slightly bigger survey.

I'd fix them both for health reasons. As animals get older they are more likely to develop cancers and other things if they are not fixed. But, if you really only want to do one of them it would be extremely less invasive for the male than the female just like with humans. But, then the female has to go through heat all the time for the rest of her life for no reason. Then if you don't get the male fixed the only thing he'll want to do is mark his territory and mate. It would be better for both of them in almost every way if both of them were fixed.

Please do both. I see females all the time come in to my hospital with a deadly infection called a pyometra. This happens in female dogs that are not spayed and requires VERY EXPENSIVE emergency surgery. Same thing can be said for male dogs who develop prostate issues and cancer from not being neutered. It is in the best interest of your pets to be neutered/spayed if not being bred. ALSO if you want to breed dogs, but can't afford the emergency c-section that happens more than people think, don't breed dogs.

I’d do both if possible. 
The female will come in heat at twice a year and it can attract male dogs from a mile away. Plus you would have to deal with her bleeding. Years ago, we had a female dog that wasn’t spayed. When she went in heat the first time, there was a dog we have never seen before show up at my house and whines constantly at the door. We got her fixed afterwards and no more dogs showed up. 
The male will mark his spot, EVERYWHERE. He’ll also be very ornery.
Usually, the males only stay for the day after surgery and the females stay overnight. We have 2 females now and they are both spayed. They had to stay overnight, but they were fine.

Yes they can still mate and will have inbred offspring so definitely fix one. Get the male fixed. Less invasive, quicker healing. 
Look up the surgeries. They have to cut into the females, boys just get their balls snipped. 
But be aware that she will still go into heat and bleed if not fixed.

If you can only choose one for financial reasons, then spay. A female dog unspayed has a bigger affect on male dogs in the area who are not neutered. Also, you have to deal with periods and times where she won’t be able to go out to places. Unspayed females aren’t allowed at our dog park when in heat for instance.

Neutering is less invasive and their by safer. Also it is recommendet to wait untill your dog is fully grown to neuter them. And for femails it is healthiest for them if they were in heat at least once befor they are ate spayed. 
Spaying and neutering to early, wile sadly very common in the us, is not good for the dogs.
