How long did it take for you to move in with your partner and did it work out?

Like how were the bills split? What made it work out and what didn’t? How did you tell your parents you were moving out?

We’ll probably never move in together. 
I have my house, and he has his house. We’re together when we want to be, and not together when we want our own spaces.

Split everything 50 50, we dated for a year before moving in and I was 29 and living on my own so I just told my mom and that's it.

We moved in after a year and a half of dating. We closed our separate accounts and got a joint account together. It's never been an issue for us. We work well together. We communicated our expectations and talked through any issues. We never yell, name call, or belittle each other. We're not passive aggressive. We treat each other the way we want to be treated. His parents were fine with it. My mom disowned me but my dad was fine. I was 21 when we got our first apartment together. We got married 2 years later. We've been married for 18 years so it worked out great for us.

We talked all this out way beforehand. We have our own accounts plus 1 joint and 1 emergency. Our accounts are our paychecks. Meaning that our paychecks go into that account, we then transfer our portion of the household income into the joint account and then every bill, grocery, rent, ect comes out of that. If we want something personally we use the money we have in our own accounts and if we want to save that money we can. Any money left over in the month in our household account (we do a little extra) we put into the emergency account. That's just what makes us more comfortable.

He moved in with us(I stayed with my mom) basically his parents didn’t want him to work(long story, he was 24) He drive semi trucks so he didn’t really live there, just his stuff was in my room and he would spend the night every other weekend when he came home (and slept in my brothers room) 
He saved up some money and we got our own place. After dating for 2years. We got pregnant very soon after getting our own. Got married. We’ve been together 5years, bought us a new house and have baby #2 otw.

I didn’t move in until after marriage. But my husband moved in with me because I have a large home and he had an apartment. 
I went to college at 16. For a graduation present, they bought me my home. It’s a 5 bed, 5 bath. So I didn’t have to tell them I was moving out and the home is in my name. I didn’t believe in living together until after marriage. 
My husband and I split the bills 50/50. We alternate paying for groceries. We own both our cars, so we don’t have car payments or a mortgage. 
One month I’ll pay our electric bill, cell, and daycare. He will pay water bill, car insurance, and groceries. He will also pay our internet bill. We alternate these monthly so that everything is fair and is 50/50. We add money to a specific account once a month for bills and that’s it.

We moved in together after 4 years and being engaged. For no real reason other than I was in school and wasn’t ready to move out even though he lived alone. We got engaged I graduated school and we moved in together. Since we were already planning on getting married we just put our earnings together and it works fine for us. Getting married in 2 months.

My husband and i moved in after 9 months of dating . I was renting a room and he was mostly staying with me anyways, he lived with his mom and they were having issues (we were 26&27 at the time). The bills we just split rent & he covered some utilities i covered others and groceries who ever had more money at the time would cover. We actually still have everything separate and we've been together 4.5 years and married almost 1. Eventually we will make a joint bills account / savings and each contribute, but i like having money separate cuz I don't want anyone telling me how I can and cannot spend 😂. Also I was previously married and got screwed with putting all of the money together and having my ex on my accounts so just be cautious and smart.

When we first moved in together we split rent 50/50. He paid utilities. We also split groceries. When we got engaged and the closer we got to marriage, we ended up getting a joint account and all funds from from there
