Cervical check - does it hurt?

Last week my doc asked me if I wanted to get checked (was 36w5d) and I declined because I didn’t think it was necessary. Should I get one at my 37 week apt on Friday? I’ve heard they hurt a lot!

With my first it hurt. With my second, not at all. I was given the advice to wiggle my toes during the exam and it really helped to distract me!

i had one done at the hospital by a nurse and it hurt like if i smwas getting raped by a baseball bat. however my doctor has done 2 checks on me and no pain whatsover. i asked him why it hirt so much with the nurse. his guess is that her fingers were not quite long enough to reach my cervix so she quite literally had tk reach up with as much of her hand as possible , as opposed to him that who has very long fingers.

Mine in the office didn’t hurt. They were definitely uncomfortable though. The ones in the hospital hurt like a bitch. Also hurts when then our internal monitors and a catheter in. (And I had an epidural for the catheter.)

I got all worked up about it and it was seriously no big deal! It was a little uncomfortable but that’s it.

I have been checked 4 times.. the only one that was uncomfortable was at 39 weeks.. other then that it wasn’t bad. I did bleed a lot the second time I was checked and a little the last time I was checked.

I honestly think it depends on if you’re cervix is high or low. My cervix is really high and they really had to get in there to check it. Not unbearable just a tiny bit painful and uncomfortable. Only lasts a few seconds though!

I just had my first one done at 37 weeks yesterday. I’m dilated to a 2 and 75% effaced. He could feel his head without hardly trying😂 it didn’t hurt at all.. like at all. It might have been because he didn’t have to reach very far to get to everything but I hardly felt it. And I was really glad I had him check.
