No. Chances are that won’t fit snugly on a newborn. Honestly you’re going to be putting her in the seat in the hospital. A normal outfit, buckle her in and adjust the straps accordingly, then cover her and the straps with a receiving blanket and you’ll be fine. You don’t want to over heat her and she’ll only be outside for a few seconds.

My son was born at the end of December in the northern Midwest, it gets cold af here. He went home in a onesie, pants, socks, hat and nothing else under the straps. We covered him in a nice thick blanket, over the straps, and he was perfect. If you live in a super cold area then you can buy a fleece zip up carseat cover, it attaches around the outside and top of the seat and can be fully closed when outside if needed.

Bring it and ask the nurses... they’ll let you know whether you can or can’t. Otherwise just have baby in their going home outfit and put a blanket or car seat cover until baby is in the warm car.

My daughter was born at the end of January and we brought her home on the coldest day we had so far. It was so cold my fiances car wouldn't start right away and the doors were frozen shut. We put her in a fleece zip up jammies with a hat and we covered her with a couple blankets until we got to the car whuch by then was warm enough. Once she gets home from the hospital if you want to see if something is too thick, buckle the babe in the car seat like normal. Take baby out of the car seat without adjusting the straps. If you can get baby back in without having to adjust the straps. And baby is nice and snug without the straps being too tight or too loose then it's fine to wear. To me, it looks too thick. my daughter was born at the end of january and it was freezing rain when we left the hospital. i put her in a sleeper and she had a little hat on and i put a blanket around her, kind of like tucked her in and one over her car seat until we got in the car where it was warm.

Most hospitals won’t let you put them in the car seats with anything except their clothes. Nothing added the car seat or anything. Head cushions only if they come on the car seat. Not if they are added.
