Which would you prefer and why?

We have both, I plan on breastfeeding so I'd like a bassinet in my room for the first 3-4mos. Then I'll move my little one into her nursery where she has a convertible crib.

I say both, but more-so a crib. Baby will sleep in our room for the first six months or so, or at least until he sleeps through the night. We use a small rocker-bed/bassinet in our room for naps and bedtime, and it's easy to transport if we need to go somewhere (like our family Christmas will be held four hours away from us this year and our baby will only be a month old). We use the crib for when baby gets bigger and sleeps through the night, etc, but our baby can also sleep in it during the day to get used to it, since big brother (they share a room) will be at preK during the daytime.

At first we just had a crib thinking we were going to use it as soon as we got home, but I loved having him next to me in the hospital & I just couldn't take my eyes off of him. So, I had my dad go get me a bassinet & bring it to my place the same day my fiancé, baby, & I got released from the hospital. I plan on using it for maybe the first 6 months to a year depending on when he out grows it (He's a big boy already at 3 weeks).

I am going to start with a bassinet. My already mom friends say they are lifesavers in the beginning!

Crib because for the first year, until we get a bigger place, the three of us will be sharing a room and with a crib he has room to grow and it doesn't take up as much space.

We just bought a crib. :) 11 days old and it's working perfect so far. No complaint.
