FTM scared of labor and the unknown, advice?

Question

40+5, I go back and forth between being scared and wishing baby would come already. I am very excited to meet baby. But I am scared of the labor and delivery process and things going wrong. I want to try stay as calm and not stressed as possible. Any advice?

Birth hurts, no getting around it. Look at it this way though, every single mother ever has not only gone through it, but went on to do it again and again.

I'm a FTM here delivered 3 weeks ago,i was scared to death too but i did it and it wasnt bad at all.my advise to you is,trust your body we are built for this. You can do it

It's going to be the shortest longest day of your life - the labour is the worst part because of the discomfort but remember: There is an end to it! You have got this!
When you're ready for delivery you'll feel a need to poo / your body will start forcing down as if you're throwing up the opposite way, use this feeling don't try and stop it
There isnt many words, it truelly is something you have to experience to understand but trust yourself, theres an end that's SO rewarding, the discomfort won't last forever xxxxx gl darling

I’m sorry you are scared - I totally understand. I’m not sure if this will help or not (I really hope so), but it seemed like everything went wrong my first time around - BUT everything worked out really well and I now have a beautiful 4 year old daughter. It is scary and things may not going perfectly, but you will get through it and get to meet that wonderful little person you’ve been growing.

It sounds rather blunt but what worked for me was just accepting it, laboring hurts trying to deliver a baby is never a guarantee smooth process and you just have to take it as it happenes in stride and get through it. My first was an easier process my second however he had other plans. After hours of pushing and his heart rate dipping too many times I was rushed back for an emergency c section I cried not because I was having th c section but because I just wanted my baby to be ok and healthy. I had accepted that a c section was a possibility so it was easier to face it. Focus on just getting your baby safe and sound and in your arms.

I can relate. Every labor and delivery can be different experiences. Dont be afraid to  speak up. Having someone there to advocate for me helped me. I decided to take the experience as it came. But I researched a lot of ways to cope with contractions before hand. Dont be afraid of getting an epidural if you dont like pain (I was told by time you want one, the pain from the needle is nothing compared to the contractions).taking a tour of the labor and delivery in the hospital helped a lot and they were wonderful answering my questions. Totally recommend no matter what, request a stool softener after birth regardless a csection or vaginal delivery.
