Prepping the dog

Any helpful tips for preparing the pup for a new addition to the family? Reading online it says you should alter it's routine a bit in the months leading up to babies arrival.. potty breaks, play time and even meals some. It also says to lessen your affection a bit in the 2 to 3 weeks prior to the baby coming home so that it doesnt associate the lack of attention it's getting with the little ones arrival.. seems kinda harsh, but I wanna make the transition for her as easy as possible and also safe for the babes... she is super well trained, but she is my baby right now and I'm nervous she might get a bit jealous. I'd love to hear any experiences anyone had or anything that worked best for you.
