So my mom just text me she got a letter in the mail for me for jury duty 🥵 
I don’t know why mail for me still goes to her house I don’t live there I haven’t for a long time and sometimes I still get a letter here and there at her address ..
I got a letter for jury duty 🙄 and it’s out of town 45 mins to an hr drive .. 
Should I call to be excused or just wait to see if it gets canceled I literally just had a baby a few days ago and I’m breastfeeding him .
Btw I have a 3 year old as well 
I don’t have a baby sitter to watch the kids let alone I wouldn’t leave my newborn with a sitter this small I don’t trust anyone with him he is to new lol what should I do ?? Wait to see if it gets canceled or call to see if I have any luck to be excused

If you don’t live in that county anymore then you’re not even allowed to serve in jury duty for them! Call and tell them you moved and theylo excuse you

I’d call and tell them you’re unable, you just had a baby. It would be so messed up if they forced you when you literally just had a baby and are still recovering

Because you have a newborn you will be excused, but only until they are a year old then they will call you again. You also need to update your address if you no longer live in that district.

Contact the county you’re supposed to serve and explain all of this. Then you need to do a change of address through the bmv or with your county to update where you would serve as a juror and legally vote . Breastfeeding is a perfectly acceptable reason to be excused! I would get excused so you don’t run the risk of having to actually go if your number gets called. You’ll just be reassigned at a later date.

I would call. If you don’t live in that country anymore you aren’t supposed to serve there anyway. They also have exemptions for those with children, so you have legitimate reason either way. If you don’t respond and it isn’t canceled, they may come looking for you because you didn’t show up or reply.

Maybe it’s a stupid question for some of you, but what is jury duty, why do you have that and is it obligated? I live in The Netherlands and we don’t have such thing.

You should make sure your address is updated with your driver's license and voter registration. That's why the jury gets pulled from. Breastfeeding is an acceptable reason for deferment of jury duty. I deferred when my son was 6 months for this reason. 
Whatever you do, don't just ignore it the summons as you can get into legal trouble by ignoring or just not showing up. It should be very easy for you to get out of.
