Possibility of false negative pregnancy test??

I am currently 6 days late and I took a pregnancy test the day of missed period and then again 5 days after my missed period.. both negative. What are the chances it could be a false negative? My period does fluctuate a few days each month but I have never been this late before.

Unlikely especially since your late.

False negative isnt the correct term. That implies that there is something wrong with the test itself, when in reality its 1 of 3 things: 1) it's too early and you havent implanted yet, 2) there isnt enough detectable HCG yet if you've implanted,  or 3) you are not pregnant. So hold off a day or two and test again.  Best of luck!!
