Small victories
So I feel a little bit silly sharing this, but:
I GOT MY PERIOD! 🎉
To give some perspective: DH and I have been casually TTC for 6 years. So why am I happy? The first year we were TTC, we thought it would be a breeze. People accidentally fall pregnant all the time, so it should be easy if you’re actively TTC, right? Wrong. I was diagnosed with PCOS after 1 year of TTC, and it all went down hill. Heavy, irregular and painful periods meant days on bed rest, low iron, and a weakened immune system. This affected my work life, and home life. Eventually, over the following 5 years, these irregular periods dwindled until I stopped getting them full stop.
During this time, I found a GP who is supportive, and actively working to correct this so that one day DH and I will have our own little bundle of joy.
After 2 months of taking 3000mg of Metformin with each evening meal, I have just got my second period, 40 days after my first!
So I am celebrating, because this is the first time in over 5 years that I have started bleeding on time!
Small victories 🖤
