Is it safe for a newborn to go out?

Do you think it’s safe for a 2-3 week old baby to go to grandmas house with all the family during thanksgiving or should baby be kept at home?

It’s completely up to you. I plan on taking baby if I’m feeling up to it but I will probably wear her the majority of the time and make people wash their hands right before holding her. I’ve also made it very clear there is no kissing her.

I mean it is obviously safer to stay home, but as long as precautions are taken and everyone follows them, then it should be fine!

It’s up to you. I take my kids out in the first week 🤷🏻‍♀️ this baby will be just under 2 weeks for thanksgiving lol I’m not staying home

I don’t see the problem. I went out the day after I had my first. If you don’t feel comfortable then maybe not?

It's up to you but personally I plan on taking my baby out and about and not staying at home. For Thanksgiving I've just told people that everyone needs to be extra good about washing hands and stay away if they are sick.

We will be going. My daughter was an october baby and she did just fine. We don’t plan on going anywhere public for a while unless we have to (grocery store, etc). Either my husband will go or I will go, but not all of us. Those carts are full of germs!

I am too worried about people who don’t get vaccinated to take my baby anywhere with lots of people around, until they are a few weeks older and get vaccinated themselves. Maybe I would do a small gathering with a handful of close family members that I know have had their vaccines.

I’d take the baby to be with family! Just ask family to have clean hands before holding her and no kisses on the face. They should be understanding since it’ll be the height of cold/flu season and the baby will, after all, be a newborn.

Of course! Just no kissing and make sure no one touches the baby who is sick. I plan on being out and about as soon as my body feels comfortable enough to get out of the house. My doctor told me walks outside (bundled appropriately) and going out to a restaurant/coffee shop/etc are totally fine.
