Can a suicide letter I found from my ex help with my case?

I have sole legal custody of our son he’s taking me back to court, I recently found a suicide letter from him in my stuff, can I use this in court to show he’s mentally unstable? I’m not trying to bash but this is scary!

Well I'd only bring it up if you genuinely want him to get help so he can have time with his child, because just bringing it in hopes of exploiting his mental health to get custody is wrong imo

Unless he wrote about harming your child I don’t see why that needs to be brought to court. Most people have hit low points in their lives, it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to raise a child.

How long ago was it? I don’t think you should just whip that out in court. That would be very mean and potentially traumatizing for him. I hope you have a lawyer and maybe bring it up to your lawyer.

Seems like a hit below the belt sort of stunt, especially if the letter is several years from the past. Now if it was more recent like a few days/months ago then yes I would definitely take it in because he’s clearly mentally unstable at the moment. Otherwise if the judge sees it as you simply trying to degrade your ex it could back fire.
