Is it ok if your man hits your dad?

Long story short, back in jan, my husband and i separated cause he flirted with another woman. I took my kids and i to go live w my parents. We worked things out a mth later, and he came to pick up the kids and i. My parents wont let us leave with him, not until he have his dad come and work out our problems together. My husband was holding our 1yr old, and my dad pushed him, and also hit him with his pointer. At first my husband didnt care, but because my 1yr old was gonna fall due to my dad constantly pushing my husband. My husband got mad and was going to hit my dad, but i told him not to. And we both left. 
Now, my dad wants my husband to bow down to him and apologize. He refused to look at why my husband was going to hit him, and said he felt disrespected.

What you should be asking yourself is if it’s okay for your dad to hit your husband

Your dad is the person in the wrong if your husband hit him back it would’ve been in self defence as your dad was pushing him first

Your dad’s definitely wrong. Trying to fight someone who’s holding at little one is unsafe and your dad is selfish for considering his own emotions over your child’s safety. I can get being protective but he’s going too far

I’ve experienced something similar...my husbands aunt started pushing/jabbing him with her fingers while he was holding our 1 1/2 year old. He kept telling her to stop because he had the baby but she wouldn’t stop and was swearing profusely at him. The whole thing was so f*cked up...she’s not allowed near our kids anymore, at least not alone.
Your dad needs to realize that he was very wrong to do that, he is the one that needs to apologize.

I have so many questions about this. Your parents won’t LET you leave their house? They’re making you involve his parents to solve your relationship issues? How old are you guys? Also, your dad attacked him first, so I don’t see why your husband would be in the wrong? Either way this whole situation sounds like a shitshow

I think you all handled it wrong. You shouldn’t have brought your parents into your problems and your dad shouldn’t have pushed your husband. When it escalated to that point, you all should have left immediately.

Your father hit your husband while he was holding a child. That’s terrible. Your father could’ve hit your child. Your husband has every right to be angry. I’d challenge anyone who’d swing towards my child.
