Latching techniques ?

￼FTM having issues getting 4 day old baby to latch correctly, causing over engorged breasts. I do pump but I'd much rather prefer baby to latch correctly. 
Any tips ?

Contact a lactation consultant in your area or watch videos on how to latch properly. Sometimes holding baby’s chin so it’s open wider helps. Maybe even try a nipple shield. Have baby evaluated for a tongue or lip tie as well. Good luck, hon.

I haven't given birth yet, so no helpful tips from me. Does your hospital have a lactation specialist you can meet with?

My girl is 8 days old and i had to resort to fully pumping for a few days because she was causing my nipples to crack, bleed, and scab over. Nevermind the tenderness from nursing in general. I will be contacting my lactation consultant on Monday for more advice and ways to increase my milk supply. My left breast is only letting down an ounce if milk in 12 minutes but my right can give up 2-2.5 ounces in 12 minutes.
