Um, maybe don't take it personally if my baby likes me better than a stranger?

What is with people taking it so personally if my baby isn't madly in love with them at first sight, or acting like she should just like all people equally and indiscriminately?

Like I just tried to hand my baby off to my mom (baby was happy, fed, and had a nap, so she was in a fine mood), so that I could shower for the first time in days, and my mom tried to refuse. "Oh, I'm not her favorite person," while acting very offended.

Well, no. This is the second time she's met you. I feed her, change her, rock her, and sleep next to her. We have been together almost constantly, 9 months that she was in my body and then 2 months since she was born. She has barely left my side. It makes sense that she prefers me over you. Am I supposed to be sorry or apologize?

Like, cut the snide comments. Don't pout and say, "Oh, she doesn't like me!" Hold the baby (who, btw, is still smiling at you and cooing, just smiles and coos more for me). Don't take it personally, she is a BABY AND NOT TRYING TO HURT YOUR FEELINGS.

UGH. End rant.
