Woke up this morning about 3:30 (it’s about 5:30 now, for reference) to feeling some period-like cramps, and felt some leaking. I assumed I just needed to use the restroom, but I tested to see if I could stop the leaking just to be sure, and it kept coming. I figured it probably was just discharge because when I stood up it didn’t get any worse, but when I got to the bathroom I had completely soaked through the liner I had on and my underwear and there was more slowly dripping into the toilet while I used the restroom. It was thin, slimy, clear with a few streaks of blood, and kept coming even after wiping it up. I woke my husband up and told him my water broke (because this is exactly what has been described to me as amniotic fluid) and we came to the hospital. (I also was having contractions, about 2-3 minutes apart lasting about 30-40 seconds each) They did a test to make sure it was, in fact, amniotic fluid, but the test came back negative??? There’s no way this could be something else, is there? Why was the test negative? I’m sure this is NOT just mucus or discharge. Anyone else been through this?
