Anyone have a 4.5 + year age gap?

My first is special needs so I dunno how I'll cope with 2 how bad are big gaps? I seems huge I don't want to be in over my head either cos who knows if the second will have special needs too 😬

I really love my gap. I had my first 2 about 2.5 years apart and my 3rd 5 years after. I never had 2 in diapers at the same time and my older kids love to help with the baby.

I have a friend who has two kids and is currently pregnant with her third. Her first daughter has Trisomy 18. She had her second daughter a year later. It is hard at times but her second daughter loves to help out with the oldest daughter and is really compassionate towards people with special needs. Just thought I would share her story and maybe it will help you decide what to do.

My first will be almost 6 when the baby is born. He has ADHD so the toddler years were tough for us. Now that he is older and in Kindergarten we felt like it was a good time. My brother and I are 7 years apart and my husband and his sister are 6 years apart and we both have good relationships with our siblings. Because my husband has ADHD we knew this was a possibility and we know it is a possibility again so we wanted to make sure we could manage if we end up with both kids having it.

There is a 4 year 7 month age gap between my special needs eldest and my neurotypical youngest. My eldest's disorder cannot be passed down though. It is hard - I won't lie, I'm super tired and super stressed but it is worth it and it is a whooole new world.

My first two are 4.5 years apart. 
My second and third will be 2 years apart, first and third 6.5 years apart. 
Honestly, there isn’t any real difference. No kid is ever really all that ready for a new sibling and there are advantages and disadvantages to any age gap. 
I like my oldest being a little more mature. I can reason with her, but not so much my toddler. I can tell my oldest, “if you wait just a few minutes I can put your sister to bed then I can give you 100% of my attention”. She is capable of waiting because she can comprehend waiting for a reward. My toddler has no concept of that and demands attention then and there, so that’s a different challenge.

3yrs to baby 3-dx with severe spastic quad cerebral palsy, gerds-tube feed, seizures, etc.. 
(Remarried)

Baby 4 (healthy)
24mths from baby 4-5
Baby 5(healthy)
Currently pregnant with baby 6 and will be 11mths apart
