Did you pierce your girls ears?

Question

My husbands family (mostly his sister) keeps saying I need to pierce my LOs ears soon or she’s going to take her (she’s joking, I think). 
I never did with my 11 year old (now she doesn’t want them at all) and wasn’t planning on it with this one. We’ve received beautiful sets of earrings as gifts from 3 different family members but I just feel like if she wants to when she’s older she can and it’s one less thing I have to clean and be cautious of.  
Idk it doesn’t seem like everyone does it anymore like when I was little- my mom pierced all of ours with a needle when we were babies. 
Maybe I’m wrong and everyone still does.

I got mine when i was newborn never had any issues so we got our our daughters done when she was 3 weeks old havent had any issues whatsoever. For us it was more of a culture thing but i think she looks adorable in her earings. If she doesn't like them when she's older she can simply not wear any earings. The cleaning isnt such a hassle for me.

My parents never got our ears pierced (I have 2 sisters) because it was against their religious beliefs. Now only my one sister has decided she wanted to get hers pierced. So it’s not assumed in my family. Any cousins I had who got their ears pierced waited to do so until they were teenagers.
My husband and I think that it’s unnecessary to pierce a baby’s ears and I don’t want to have to worry about infection or adhesions or the ear ring getting caught on something and ripped out (I knew someone this happened to once). If my daughter wants to pierce her ears when she’s older and able to take care of herself than that’s totally fine. But anyone to tries to force it now has another thing coming.

I have 2 daughters and I'm waiting, only because mine were done as a baby and I was really prone to infections so the studs needed to be cleaned frequently until I was like 10. As a toddler, my parents would have to pin me down to get them off and on. With my younger sister they waited and it was much easier. I have no ethical issues with it, but I want to wait until they ask for them.

Rule in my house was you can have them when you can ask for them yourself and take care of them with my moms help of course! And my little sister followed the same and I’ll do the same with my babygirl but I don’t judge anyone who does it when they are babies 🤷🏼‍♀️ I just don’t see it necessary to add more discomfort to them when they are already growing and going through it lol

I did my first borns at 3 months old after she got her shots. Baby girl just got her shots today she's 2m and i'm already looking for someone (not going to just anywhere this time i'm looking for someone in a tattoo shop)

I want my daughter to make that decision herself. I think piercings are a sort of body modification so I want her to have that decision

My mum made us wait until our 10th birthday and it was 100% our choice. We were responsible for keeping them clean, changing our own earrings etc. 
I'll be doing the same with my now 2yr old daughter. To me, it's as much a lesson in choices, consequences and responsibility as anything else.

I'm waiting because, like you said, it's just one more thing to clean and worry about. I also had mine done at Walmart when I was about four, and they got super infected. I still can't wear earrings for long periods of time and I'm 23.

I plan on piercing my baby’s at 3ish months. I had mine pierced by my mom when i was a baby and she also pierced all my sister’s.  Personally, I’m glad she did (:. To each their own.
